The Cardiology Service of the Arco Ribeirinho Local Health Unit (ULSAR) in Barreiro will no longer provide emergency and inpatient care from Monday, as announced this Friday.
The ULSAR statement explained that there will be a reorganization of cardiac activities, with a focus on external consultations, specialist cardiac examinations and pacemaker implantation, as well as internal consultations in the remaining specialties.
“Despite all efforts made to strengthen the medical team, it is currently not possible to collectively provide care in the hospital/emergency department. They will continue to try to reverse this situation,” says ULSAR.
ULSAR is part of the Barreiro/Montijo Hospital in the Setúbal area.
This reorganization, as ULSAR explains, aims to adapt the availability of medical hours in this specialty area to the needs of the patients cared for by the Cardiology Service.
In an emergency, he adds, “users should contact the SNS24 line on 808 24 24 24 to ensure an appropriate response to their health situation.”
According to local health department Arco Ribeirinho, the provision of medical services in this area of specialization will continue to be guaranteed to users in accordance with the National Health Service (SNS) Cardiology Specialty Referral Network.
