A family of ten was killed in Brasilia, Brazil over a land dispute. Four men have already been identified as suspects in the massacre.
The victims are between the ages of six and 54, and all the bodies have already been located.
According to globe, hairdresser Elizamar da Silva, 39, disappeared on January 12 with her three minor children. The next day, a woman’s car drove up with four charred bodies inside.
Later, the family reported the disappearance of relatives of the husband and daughter-in-law of the hairdresser. The man’s car was later found charred, with two bodies inside. An investigation confirmed that the bodies belonged to the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law of Elizamar da Silva. The ex-wife and daughter of the hairdresser-in-law also disappeared.
Later, Elizamar’s father-in-law’s body was dismembered and buried next to the house where the victims were kept in captivity, in Planaltin. Last Tuesday, the last three bodies appeared: Elizamar da Silva’s husband, Thiago Belchior, and the ex-wife and daughter of the hairdresser’s father-in-law.
Three men have already been detained, one of whom worked with Elizamar da Silva’s father-in-law and was found with burnt hands. Another detainee confessed to the crime and even said that the murder was ordered by two of the victims, Thiago Belchior and his father. The third was responsible for keeping the victims in captivity.
A 17-year-old teenager was also arrested and confessed to the authorities, but since there were no warrants against the young man, he was released.
At the heart of the crimes are disagreements over the land on which Elizamar da Silva’s husband’s parents lived, in Planaltina.
