Andre Ventura remains suspicious about the possible cancellation of votes and asks the CNE to investigate.

This Sunday, President Chegi confirmed his suspicions about the possibility of deliberate cancellation of votes for the party in the legislative elections and said that the National Electoral Commission (CNE) should conduct an investigation.

“I hope that tonight the CNE, instead of saying that it gets nothing, that it hasn’t seen anything, that it doesn’t know anything, will look at this and say that it should open up a procedure on the viability of the people who are sitting at the table and on the electoral process in expatriate communities,” said Andre Ventura upon arriving at a dinner/rally in Leiria as part of the campaign for the March 10 legislative elections.

On Saturday evening, the Chegi leader said that an attempt was being made to “distort the results” of the elections, which would entail “cancelling the votes” of his party. This Sunday, Lusa contacted CNE and said he had no complaints.

Andre Ventura showed the journalists a sheet with a publication about Chege and AD; the votes will be considered invalid.” According to Lusa’s consultation with this social network, the account created in 2014 is private, and it is not possible to view the publications and confirm the one shown by President Chegi.

“This commissioner says that if he can, he will cancel Chegi’s votes. If it is not serious for the CNE in my country, then the CNE here is not doing anything,” he defended himself.

Confronted with journalists’ insistence that there were multiple parties at the polls, he responded: “If we had a trial and one judge out of three said he was only there to screw the defendant, what would we say? » ?”

“There are many tables in which there are only members of the PS and SDP, others in the south of the country where there are only members of left parties. It is important that this does not go unnoticed,” he said.

“I hope CNE does something about it,” he said.

Ventura initially argued that it was “not Cega’s place” to make the complaint official, but later admitted as much: “If they need us to put it in writing and send things like that, we will send it.”

Stating that “the CNE was watching television and heard the leader of the third largest party say there were complaints,” Andre Ventura argued that the CNE “has the public competence to ensure the control and operability of the electoral law, and this calls into question the control of the electoral act.” .

“The CNE has more than enough grounds to start an investigation here,” he stressed.

Chegi’s leader also stated that “ballots are not reaching expatriate communities.”

Andre Ventura said the party receives “almost every day messages from emigrants, either that they cannot vote, or that they call the consulate and are not given any information, or that they ask for money, or that they are simply told that they cannot vote.” “, without giving specific examples.

When asked about the possibility of a disruption in the postal services of countries where emigrants live, Andre Ventura replied that he did not believe that this was “in France, Switzerland and England,” where “the post office has three times the capacity of ours, and miraculously no ballots arrived there.”

President Chega also stated that “Chega does not imitate anyone,” namely former Presidents Donald Trump (USA) or Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil).

The CNE is headed by a judge-councilor of the Supreme Court, appointed by the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, and includes citizens of recognized merit appointed by the Assembly of the Republic, one from each parliamentary group.

On this occasion, André Ventura was also asked about the incident in Guimarães with the PS campaign, which brought him “the deepest condemnation”.

“Violence must be condemned in all circumstances, be it against Pedro Nuno Santos, against Montenegro, against myself, against Paulo Raimundo, against everyone. Violence has no place in politics,” he said.

During the riots this afternoon, a man threw a vase at the PS parade from a first floor balcony, after insulting and making obscene gestures towards socialist activists and supporters who threw a flag and umbrella at him.
