German Finance Minister Christian Lindner expressed his support for IL President Rui Rocha on Tuesday, saying a vote for liberal policies was a bet on a “stronger and more prosperous Portugal.”
On the tenth day of campaigning for the legislative elections on 10 March and in a video message sent to the IL campaign, Christian Lindner, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (FDP), said that Portugal was approaching “important elections” and that IL’s political program “is an important a catalyst for shaping a new future for all Portuguese citizens.”
“This program, based on liberalism, protects economic growth, competitiveness and freedom of choice in the areas of health and education,” he emphasized.
With Portugal “at a decisive crossroads” after nearly a decade of socialist rule, Olaf Scholz’s finance minister said that “a vote for the Liberal Initiative is not just a vote, it is a vote.” for a stronger and more prosperous Portugal.”
He added: “Rui Rocha embodies this vision with his strategic knowledge and unwavering positive energy. He fully embodies the liberal DNA of our European family.”
Christian Lindner also emphasized that the legislative elections will determine the direction of the country’s development, hence their “tremendous importance.”
More than 10.8 million Portuguese are called to vote on Sunday to elect 230 members of the Assembly of the Republic.
18 political forces, 15 parties and three coalitions are competing in these elections.
