Rui Rio and Luis Montenegro walked side by side through the streets of Viana do Castelo, creating the PSD’s traditional “V” for victory, a sign of strength and “change”, according to the former Orange president.
“Whoever understands that things are going badly in the country has only one alternative,” said the former mayor, who said he believes “in this change.” In a good mood, he assured that presence on the street is “certainly” a sign of unity and that “it will not be disunity.”
As for Chega, Rui Rio ironically thanked Andre Ventura’s party for “taking” candidate Eduardo Teixeira, the former leader of the Social Democrats: “He did us a great service, we no longer knew how to get rid of Dr. Chega. Eduardo Teixeira,” he emphasized.
Luis Montenegro praised his former opponent in the internal elections, whom he described as “a politician with a lot of experience, a lot of work done” and with whom it was “an honor to share a walk” through the streets of Viana.
Overnight, it was the turn of former PSD President Luis Márquez Mendes to appear in a campaign demanding “new blood and new life” for the country, aimed at “a failure of the welfare state on an unprecedented scale.” This is unacceptable, especially in a left-wing government.”
To “satisfy the nostalgia” for his political family, the current TV commentator has made it his goal to “put an end to the idea of a small country doomed to failure.” The speech ended with applause from those present at the Social Democratic rally in Barcelos.
