Law enforcement officer arrested for disappearance of man who won lottery in Spain

A law enforcement officer from the municipality of Caceres in Spain was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the disappearance of a man who won one million euros in the lottery, the publication reported this Thursday World.

Law enforcement officials conducted investigations in several locations, in Jinojal and Caceres, regarding the 56-year-old suspect. The officer’s vehicle was also seized to gather evidence.

The investigation is ongoing.

The missing man’s sister said she didn’t know anything and was very nervous about it. “My brother was very reserved, he didn’t say anything,” she said, as quoted by El Mundo.

Vicente Sanchez, 79, won the lottery in 2016 and will win €300,000 again. Before this, he had always led a modest life with some difficulties. He even traveled to Madrid in search of work and received unemployment benefits several times.

When luck knocked on his door, he changed his life, but without much show. At best, he paid his neighbors for coffee from time to time, explains World.

Neighbors describe a lonely man with a very set daily routine.

Vicente, “Tente” to his friends, disappeared on January 27. No one considered going to some heavenly place to get the most out of their money. Neighbors say it’s inconsistent with his personality.

The man was seen riding the bus several times and even bought a round trip ride to Caceres on the day he disappeared. I used to go to the mall, but I always came back during the day. He did not return on January 27.

Authorities mobilized to search. They used drones and waterborne vehicles, but to no avail. He left the bed unmade and his cell phone at home.
