This Friday morning, students from the Student Climate Strike painted protest slogans on the headquarters of various parties. At the Chegi headquarters, the facade was covered with paint, the report indicates.
“The students say they hold the parties responsible for the lack of plans to end the use of fossil fuels by 2030. Elections in 2024 give a mandate until 2028. This is the final mandate to solve the climate crisis. fossil fuels by 2030 will doom our future. This will condemn millions of people to death,” they note.
Chega’s headquarters “deserved no political message” because the party led by Andre Ventura “is nothing more than the watchdog of the fossil system,” they argue. “The hatred and systems of oppression that the party represents are symptoms of a fossilized system that puts profit before and serves life,” they add.
On February 28, a climate activist threw green paint at Luis Montenegro during the Democratic Alliance candidate’s visit to the Lisbon Tourism Exchange. The End Fossils movement claimed responsibility for the attack, and the PSP detained an activist against whom Luis Montenegro opened a criminal case.
