Pope Francis said this Friday that he had not yet fully recovered from a bout of bronchitis and a slight cold, and asked a Vatican adviser to read his prepared speech to the Vatican dicastery.
“I have not yet fully recovered, so I asked Monsignor (Filippo) Ciampanelli to read [o discurso] so as not to make excessive efforts,” the Pope said, opening the audience of the Dicastery for Evangelization.
Monsignor Filippo Ciampanelli is an employee of the Vatican Secretary of State.
Advisers have regularly read speeches and prayers from the 86-year-old pope in recent weeks.
At the end of February, after several days of a mild cold, the Pope underwent follow-up examinations at the Gemmelli Hospital on the island of Tiberina in Rome, and then returned to the Vatican.
At this time, Francisco had to abandon some of his obligations.
