The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) confiscated 915 kilograms of animal products from a secret slaughter in a restaurant and drinks establishment in Vila Real, worth a total of 6,617 euros, as announced this Saturday.
“About 915 kg of various animal products were seized and, after inspection by a municipal veterinarian, they were found to be spoiled, untraceable and originating from a clandestine slaughterhouse,” ASAE said in a statement.
After this operation, the three accused were also arrested, subject to identification and residence, and summoned to court.
The total value of the seizure was 6,617.75 euros.
According to the same note, food items were found in three horizontal freezers with “no health labeling, no identification mark, no labeling/traceability and poor packaging.”
The pig carcass, weighing approximately 200kg, was found in an outbuilding of the plant showing signs of being secretly slaughtered, “with no visible indication that it had undergone the slaughterhouse medical examination which is mandatory before and after slaughter to check for disease.” ” “.
