The 42-year-old woman, arrested on Friday on suspicion of pimping in Macedo de Cavaleiros, will remain free as long as she is presented to the authorities twice a week, a source connected to the trial told Lusa this Saturday.
The accused will still have to surrender her passport, she is prohibited from contacting other defendants in the case, and the activities of her institution have been suspended.
The enforcement measures were taken by the court of Macedo de Cavaleiros, Bragança district, following an operation by the National Republican Guard (NRG) that took place this Friday in the municipality and was the culmination of an investigation into the crime of pimping (exploiting or recruiting people into prostitution).
The detained woman is the owner of an establishment in the parish of Amendoeira, one of the locations of the searches.
In addition to suspicion, a 52-year-old man was charged with the crime of possessing an illegal weapon, from whom a firearm and 26 rounds of ammunition were seized.
Three house searches and seven off-site searches were carried out, during which €5,497 in cash, a car and various computer equipment were seized, GNR said in a statement.
Also, according to a source associated with the process, the alleged employees of the establishment are being questioned as witnesses for memory, in testifying in court, visitors who were on site at the time of the operation have been identified.
