This Saturday, the captain of the port of Funchal lifted the warning for bad weather and high winds for Madeira, which was initially planned to remain in effect until the end of the day, but a yellow warning for rain remains on the island until Sunday.
“Despite the cancellation of the warning, shipowners and shipowners are advised to take the necessary precautions to ensure appropriate navigation conditions,” the captain warned in his statement.
The authorities also recommend that “facilities for movement on the protective piers of ports, cliffs, beaches or natural bodies of water be ensured, as well as safe conditions for recreational fishing, especially near cliffs and rocky areas.”
Despite the lifting of the bad weather warning at sea, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere maintains a yellow rainfall warning for the island of Madeira (south coast, north coast and mountainous areas) until 12:00 on Sunday.
A yellow warning, the first on a scale of three, is issued whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities due to weather conditions.
