Josep Borrell advocates strengthening and speeding up the sending of military aid to Ukraine

The European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, defended this Monday the strengthening and speeding up of military aid to Ukraine following the intensification of Russian attacks.

After a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, the Spaniard also said on his official X account that Russian President Vladimir Putin should be criticized for linking Ukraine to last Friday’s terrorist attack in Moscow.

“After a significant increase in Russian attacks on Ukraine, it is more important than ever to (1) strengthen and speed up the delivery of EU military aid and (2) criticize Putin for pointing out Ukraine’s role in Friday’s attacks on Moscow. Friday,” Borrell wrote.

The day after the attacks, European institutions, including Borrell, condemned “in the strongest terms” the “brutal” attack on the outskirts of Moscow, which killed 137 people.

On Monday, the Kremlin assured that there is still no “definite hypothesis” regarding responsibility for the attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall, which was immediately claimed by the Islamic State.

According to the country’s authorities, Russian security forces detained 11 people in connection with the attack, four of whom personally participated in the massacre.
