At least 41 people were killed and more than 180 were injured on Tuesday when Russia struck a military institute in central Poltava, Reuters reported President Volodymyr Zelensky as saying.
Zelensky also said that Russian troops hit the city with two ballistic missiles, damaging the building of the Institute of Communications, Reuters reports.
The Ukrainian President added that he had ordered a full and prompt investigation into the circumstances of the attack.
“The Russian scum will definitely be held responsible for this attack,” Zelensky said on the Telegram app.
“We continue to tell everyone in the world who is able to stop this terror: air defense systems and missiles are needed in Ukraine, and not somewhere in a warehouse,” he said.
“Long-range strikes that can protect us from Russian terror are needed now, not later. Unfortunately, every day of delay means human casualties,” he added.
