The pregnant woman from Alcantara (Lisbon), who was supposed to be treated at the San Francisco Xavier Hospital, was taken on Saturday by INEM to the hospital do Barreiro, located 30 kilometers away, in accordance with the recommendations of the Center for Emergency Patient Care (CODU).
The trip to Barreira was the result of several maternity hospitals only accepting new pregnant women over the Easter weekend.
The regional secretary of the Independent Union of Doctors of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, Maria João Thiago, also confirmed the restrictions on obstetric services at the Beatriz Angelo Hospital (Lures) in relation to pregnant women referred by CODU and INEM, adding that also this Sunday morning in the Cascais Hospital there were restrictions.
