“I asked to be heard during the process. So far I have not been told to be heard. When it happens, I will definitely go,” the government official said, stressing that he wanted to be heard to “clarify the situation.”
Miguel Albuquerque, speaking during the visit to the Regional Directorate of Land Transport in Funchal, explained, on the other hand, that he retains the immunity inherent in the functions he performs.
The government of Madeira, part of the PSD/CDU-PP coalition, with parliamentary support from the MHP, has been in power since early February, after the president of the executive branch resigned from his position after being accused of participating in a process in which suspicions of corruption in the archipelago and of depriving PAN of political credibility are being investigated.
Following the political crisis, the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, dissolved the Parliament of Madeira and called early elections for May 26.
