The fire broke out late on Wednesday in the kitchen of an apartment on the second floor of one of the blocks of an elite condominium in Foz, Porto. At least two people were injured, one from smoke inhalation and the other from burns, and were taken to hospital.
In a seven-story building, people were evacuated due to heavy smoke. However, four people got stuck in one of the apartments due to the fact that the escalator was not working due to the instability of the terrain. Residents, meanwhile, were taken out of the building.
The alarm was raised by residents at 7:29 p.m., and 16 firefighters are on the scene, supported by five vehicles.
Municipal police have already evacuated vehicles that were badly parked and obstructed the movement of rescue vehicles.
