Since 17:00 on Tuesday, authorities have been searching for a shellfish harvester who has been missing since Monday in the area of Magoito beach in the municipality of Sintra. 21 firefighters and NCIS officers are involved in the work, as well as a boat from the Victim Assistance Institute.
As he explained CM Commander Marques Coelho, captain of the port of Cascais, the man left his home on Monday, telling neighbors he was going to catch seafood in Magoito. “He didn’t return overnight and neighbors alerted him this morning, first to the police and then to the fire department.” NCIS was notified 24 hours after the disappearance and resources were immediately mobilized to Magoito, where the victim’s car was found parked.
“On land and sea, patrols operate until sunset. Tomorrow morning we will resume using the low tide,” said Commander Marques Coelho.
