Fifteen migrants were rescued by GNR forces through the Coastal and Border Control Unit off Cabo Gata, southwest of Almeria, in Spain. Among those rescued were two children, a baby about 6 months old, three women and nine men.
According to the statement, it was the Portuguese Air Force that discovered the ship, which was adrift with 15 people on board and was in an unsafe condition.
The minors were dehydrated and the child was showing “signs of hypothermia,” and authorities provided medical attention.
Since 2021, the Bojador has carried out several search and rescue missions that have contributed to the “location and rescue of hundreds of migrants in the Mediterranean.”
