‘Mercenary spyware’ attack on iPhone puts 92 countries on alert

According to the company, this Thursday Apple warned that iPhone users in India and 91 other countries could be victims of a “spy-for-hire attack.” Reuters.

According to the note sent to the agency and the alleged victims of the computer attack, the attackers attempted to “remotely compromise the iPhone.”

Apple left a note on its official page with instructions to help users who may have been victims of the attack and explaining the purpose of cyberattack notifications.

“These Mercenary attacks are much more complex than typical cybercriminal activity and consumer malware,” the brand explained, highlighting that mercenary spyware requires “exceptional resources” to access the devices of specific small groups.

“Spy mercenary attacks cost millions of dollars and often have a short duration, making them much more difficult to detect and prevent,” he added.

Apple also says it will contact all users who were victims of the attack using the email address and numbers associated with the ID.
