The Judicial Police of the Center arrested a 32-year-old Colombian woman, the girlfriend of an inmate at the Coimbra prison, who, for approximately two years, personally delivered or mailed letters containing A4 sheets of paper soaked in a hallucinogenic drug, which the man then sold to other prisoners.
The product was mixed with tobacco and smoked.
Sheets of A4 paper were sold individually, at three thousand euros per piece, or in smaller parts. The profit was sent by postal order to the woman who deposited it. During the meeting, the suspect handed her partner several sheets of paper.
The investigation began eight months ago after guards reported the matter to the prosecutor’s office. It was reported that a large number of letters were always sent to the same cell, where there were three prisoners who had already been paroled. Attention was also drawn to bank deposits received by one of these prisoners, convicted of robbery and extortion. Prisoners lost access to high-risk prisons, and the woman was placed in preventive detention.
