More than half of Portuguese people watched streaming audiovisual content in 2022

More than half of Portuguese people (59%) used the Internet to watch television programs or videos in 2022, according to data published this Monday by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).

Portugal’s consumption figures are slightly below the European average, with 65% of EU citizens using streaming to watch TV programs or watch videos online in 2022, according to Eurostat.

The analysis covers consumption in 24 of the 27 EU Member States by citizens aged 16 to 74 years.

Consumption rates are highest in Finland, with 93% of consumers watching TV or other videos online.

Conversely, Romania recorded the lowest level of consumption, with 34% of citizens using streaming services.

According to Eurostat, there is also a link between age and online audiovisual content consumption habits.

“Streaming is particularly popular among young people: 86% of people using it are between 16 and 24 years old, and 81% are between 25 and 34 years old,” says the European Union, pointing out that as age increases, the percentage is decreasing. , which is 33% for people aged 65 to 74 years.
