Authorities will continue their “routine search” for the missing young man in Cais do Sodre.

Search operations for the young man who went missing on Saturday in the Tagus, in the Cais do Sodre area of Lisbon, will continue in the coming days as a “routine search” using the resources of the National Maritime Authority (ANM), the source said. this Monday officially.

“At the moment, the search for the young man who disappeared over the weekend in Cais do Sodre is a routine search,” that is, “the Marine Police vessels and the Victim Assistance Institute carry out daily patrols with various missions, and these are the means that are searching for this young man “, AMN representative José Souza Luis told Lusa.

The Navy spokesman also added that ANM personnel are conducting “multiple navigations in the Straw Sea” and are paying “particular attention to whether the body of the missing person has been found.”

“We have not stopped searching,” assured José Sousa Luis, despite the difficulties of finding the body of the young man in an area with high traffic density, such as the Tagus River.

The young man fell into the water on Saturday in the Cais do Sodre area, a maritime police source told Lusa, noting that an alert about the incident was issued at 11:40.

According to the same source, the young man’s friend “jumped into the water to try to save him, and then a third person jumped into the water to save his friend.”

The source said the missing young man is a Cape Verdean and was born in 1998, adding that the friend had to be rescued and taken to hospital because he was “emotionally shaken and may have had some water in his lungs.”

He added that there was no need to help a third party.

A team from the Lisbon Fire Regiment (RSB) carried out diving operations, but conditions were not ideal as the current was very strong, NCIS noted.

The search for the missing young man was continued by RSS firefighters, employees of the Institute for Assistance to Shipwreck Victims and the Marine Police.
