The Department of Investigation and Criminal Affairs (DIAP) of the Porto prosecutor’s office on Tuesday brought charges against 37 people accused of investigating a so-called drug trafficking network in the Pasteleira Nova area.
The leader, who has been in preventive detention since April 24 last year, is Fabio Ribeiro, nicknamed “Krilim,” 37 years old.
He was arrested in a mega operation by the Porto Criminal Investigation Department PSP.
Porto’s DIAP has now charged him and 36 other defendants with crimes including aggravated human trafficking, money laundering and criminal association.
The network was dismantled at two points: the first time in March 2023, when four of Fabio Ribeiro’s right-hand men were arrested.
Even after the arrest of his accomplices, Krilim continued to share profits from drug trafficking with them.
The indictment was filed Tuesday, before a year has passed since most of the defendants were arrested, which will require a review of enforcement actions.
