The Minister of Health received the President of Doctors today

This Monday, the Ministry of Health team begins a series of meetings with professional industry associations. This week also marks the start of negotiations with trade unions.

The President of Doctors will be the first to be received this Monday by Minister Ana Paula Martins, to whom she will present what she considers to be priority measures for the sector.

Luse, the President said that he would present a document with “six priorities for the next 60 days”, which emphasizes “the assessment of the working conditions of doctors” and the role of doctors in the health system and, in particular, in the National Health Center.

After the Order of the Doctors, the remaining orders will be received by the guardianship, as in the case of nurses or psychologists.

On Friday morning, wage negotiations begin with medical unions: first with the Independent Union of Doctors (SIM) and then with the National Federation of Doctors (FNAM).

Increases in wages and better working conditions are just some of the demands that unions have already made from the previous ministerial team and which they will bring back to the negotiating table.

In a conversation with Lusa, the FNAM president assured that she had “begun the negotiation process in good faith” and expressed the hope that there would be no “negotiations or dubious steps” throughout the process.

Replacement of 35 hours per week, integration of medical interns into careers and career development are other priorities of the FNAM, which submitted a proposal to the previous government to increase wages by around 30%.

In addition to doctors’ unions, the ministry will also welcome unions of nurses and pharmacists.

A statement from the ministry’s press service emphasizes that “the process of care dialogue with partners began with patient associations, reaffirming its commitment to people. On Friday 19th, the government hosted RDPortugal, the Health in Dialogue platform and the GAT group. activists in treatment.”
