According to information available on the Financial Portal, taxpayers have already filed nearly three million IRS returns, and about 75% are for people who have income solely from dependent employment and pensions.
According to the same data, before the start of the day this Friday, 2,204,579 declarations were filed for income from dependent employment and pensions and 709,787 from taxpayers with other types of income, for a total of 2,914,366 declarations.
As for the calculations, in response to Lusa’s questions about possible difficulties and delays in this procedure mentioned by some inspectors, an official source in the Ministry of Finance said that no problems had been identified.
“Not only were there no issues identified in the IRS Model 3 returns audit, but in fact by the end of April 22 there was an increase of more than 440,000 verified returns compared to the same period last year,” the same official source emphasized.
Thus, he added, 1,926,176 declarations were confirmed on this date, compared to 1,484,318 for the same period in 2023.
The Ministry of Finance also states that “declarations are subject to complex procedures for verifying the information they contain, and these procedures become more complex when the number of attachments to the declaration is greater.”
“When filing a Model 3 return, the taxpayer immediately receives confirmation of delivery,” the Treasury notes, adding that “the fact that a taxpayer cannot access confirmation of a Model 3 return only means that the return was still not submitted.” subject to a validation procedure.”
The 2023 IRS income tax filing campaign began April 1 and runs through June 30.
