Brazilian MNEs in Italy at a ceremony commemorating the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s death

Brazil’s Foreign Minister will attend the San Marino Grand Prix in Italy on Wednesday for a ceremony marking exactly 30 years since the death of Brazilian Ayrton Senna, one of the greatest drivers in Formula One history.

In a statement, the Brazilian government clarified that “Austrian pilot Roland Ratzenberger, who was the victim of a fatal car accident that occurred on the eve of the Brazilian idol, will also be honored on this occasion.”

“Minister Mauro Vieira and Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg will be received at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit by Italian Chancellor Antonio Tajani and the mayor of the Italian city Marco Panieri. The ceremony will include a moment of silence and the laying of flowers at the Curva Tamburello, the section of the race track where Ayrton Senna’s accident occurred,” Brazilian authorities added.

Brazilian Ayrton Senna will be remembered in a ceremony starting at 14:47 (12:47 in Lisbon), the moment of his crash at the Tamburello corner of the circuit where the Sao Paulo legend died.

Senna, a three-time world champion (1988, 1990 and 1991) with 41 wins, 65 pole positions and 80 podiums in the premier class, died aged 34 at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit during the tragic San Marino Grand Prix.

During free practice, his compatriot Rubens Barrichello was involved in a brutal crash – without serious physical consequences – at the Variante Bassa chicane, and on Saturday, during qualifying, the Austrian Roland Ratzenberger, who was competing in his first season as a racing driver. , F1, he was also killed after crashing into the Villeneuve corner wall at over 330 km/h.

In one of the saddest weekends in Formula One history, the legendary Senna hit the wall at around 220 kilometers per hour when he lost control of his Williams at Tamburello corner. Having suffered serious head injuries, Ayrton was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Bologna, where his death was confirmed, probably shortly after impact and caused by his helmet being punctured by damage to the car’s front suspension.

The car’s right front wheel also came off and hit the Brazilian star’s head.

The Brazilian’s remains are located in the Morumbi cemetery in Sao Paulo.

The Imola circuit, where he will be remembered on Wednesday, will host the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, the sixth round of the Formula One World Championship, on May 19. The competition will resume this weekend in Miami (USA), stage of the fifth round of the year.
