On Thursday, the Competition Authority (AdC) recommended to the government and airport manager ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal to guarantee equality between taxis and TVDE in access to the airports of Lisbon, Porto and Faro.
“The AdC has made recommendations regarding the conditions for passenger embarkation and disembarkation at Lisbon, Porto and Faro airports,” a statement released today said.
The competition recommends that the government ensure that the management of airport parking “does not result in discriminatory and unjustifiable conditions” for passenger transport providers such as taxis and TVDE (personal transport in an unidentified vehicle).
In turn, ANA is asked to review TVDE’s airport pick-up and drop-off conditions, namely access conditions and tariffs, which should be “neutral and not specific to certain providers.”
The AdC said it has established that TVDEs equivalent to private vehicles are subject to charges for picking up and dropping off passengers after a certain number of free daily rides have been exhausted.
Other operators, such as taxis, are not subject to the fees in question.
On the other hand, he stated that TVDEs are “at a disadvantage” when accessing the terminal because they do not have direct access to the door.
With these recommendations, the regulator wants to contribute to the creation of a “fair competitive environment.”
