ERC analyzes complaints against Big Brother

The Social Communications Regulatory Authority (ERC) is reviewing seven complaints related to the current episode of Big Brother (TVI), which premiered on March 24 and is hosted by Claudio Ramos.

Speaking to Correio da Manhã, the regulator said that “usually such participation refers to situations of disrespect for the Islamic religion and the fact that the person taking part in the program identifies as non-binary.”

The organization, led by Helena Souza, also adds that “these participation options are being considered for the services” of the regulator. “When decisions are made on these, the ERC will continue to publicly disclose information on its website as usual,” he concluded.

At the center of the controversy will be contestant Daniela Ventura, who recently converted to Islam, dreams of becoming an actress and recently admitted that she is bisexual. Other complaints center on Jacques Costa, who has since abandoned the format and became the first non-binary person to take part in the program.

Let us recall that the previous episode of the TVI reality show “Big Brother – Desafio Finale” generated two dozen complaints to the ERC in less than a month. At issue was “language used between competitors, alleged vote manipulation and recording of behavioral bullying situations.” Prior to this, Big Brother 2023 was targeted by 22 contestants motivated by “the language used between competitors, the alleged manipulation of votes and the circulation of montages of photo shots of the main characters on social media.”
