The PSP and GNR trade union platform considers the government’s proposal “unacceptable and unfortunate”

This Saturday, the platform of unions and associations PSP and GNR considered the proposal for a new addition to the mission to be “unacceptable and unfortunate”, warning that it in some cases reduces income, and will therefore present a counter-proposal.

The Platform of Unions and Associations of the PSP and GNR regrets the first proposal of the MAI, which it says shows “a huge lack of respect for the dignity of the GNR and PSP professionals, a gesture that has already been made,” the organization said in a statement.

Expressing “surprise, astonishment and indignation at the proposal” presented by the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI), at a meeting on May 2, in which Supervision Minister Margarida Blasco proposed a Mission Supplement (MM) for PSP and GNR elements between 365.13 and 625.94 euros that will replace the current service and risk allowance in the security forces, the platform indicates that it will present a counter-proposal.

For the platform, the manager’s proposal means “a ridiculous valuation and, in many cases, a reduction in income, if not for a protective clause guaranteeing in the latter cases an increase of 75 euros, and in some other situations a valuation of around nine euros.”

“This would typically result in a depreciation in the short/medium term of the amounts currently paid through the existing Security Forces Service and Risk Allowance (addition removed and replaced by SM),” he states.

Thus, the trade unions and associations of the PSP and GNR believe that this proposal is “totally unacceptable and unfortunate”, and “the only parity it represents with the PS is the nomenclature of the Mission Supplement”, since “its content does not contain any planning” . or a study regarding the goal it is aimed at, namely ensuring parity in the police status of FS specialists. [Forças de Segurança]“as regards compensation for risk, injury, harm, continued availability, responsibility, and subjection prior to retirement or reform to a specific code of ethics and specific disciplinary status.”

According to data published on the platform, the government’s proposal for a new addition to the GNR mission involves a salary loss of €517.30 for the General Commander, with the biggest career increase being €227.70 for a warrant officer and a loss of €517 in the Director of Police salary for the largest career increase does not exceed 196 euros.

The current Security Forces Service and Risk Allowance received by PSP and GNR members has a variable portion corresponding to 20% of the basic salary and a fixed portion of €100.

According to the proposal presented by the government to the PSP unions, officers will receive a mission allowance of 12% of the basic remuneration of the PSP National Director and General Commander of the GNR, while the percentage for PSP Chiefs and NCOs for the GNR is 9%, and for Agents and Guards – 7%.

Police officers and soldiers and NSR soldiers are demanding a mission allowance identical to that given to the PS by the previous government, which in some cases represented a salary increase of 700 euros.
