On the day Josiel Rodriguez’s body was thrown into the ravine, “Kenny” was in a bar near Orik. That’s when he tried to use the victim’s credit card to pay a €200 drinking bill.
The Judicial Police (SP) believe that the victim’s body was still in the trunk of the car at the time.
The suspect was caught by security cameras in the bar, collected by the SOE, which show that Kenny tried to pay with Josiel Rodriguez’s card, but after failing to do so, he paid in cash. As found out cmthere would have been other attempts to pay with the same card.
The exchange point where Kenny was a regular customer is not far from where Josiel’s body was dumped.
According to cm, 25-year-old Josiel Rodriguez’s bank card was found in the possession of Antonio Mascarenhas, a 25-year-old man known as “Kenny” and suspected of killing three women in the Algarve region. The card was discovered during searches conducted on a registered vehicle currently in custody for drug trafficking.
Caught on Wednesday, António Mascarenhas was present in Faro’s court on Thursday morning. He was only charged with the latest murder – the court was still substantiating evidence of the crime discovered in August – but the prosecutor, who was present in court, demanded the release of the suspect. He said there was not enough evidence, he only helped establish the identity and length of residence, which the judge agreed to, leading to the release and re-arrest of “Kenny”. This time for traffic.
