The PSP detained seven men and five women in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Braga district, on suspicion of drug trafficking, a police source told Lusa this Wednesday.
According to the source, those detained range from 22 to 54 years old.
They will appear in court on Thursday for first judicial questioning and appropriate coercive measures.
The arrests came during a “months-long” drug trafficking investigation.
PSP carried out seven searches on Tuesday, which also resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of heroin, cocaine and hashish, totaling more than 500 doses.
PSP also seized three firearms, ammunition, more than €1,350 and materials used for cutting and dispensing drugs.
“This action, in the opinion of the PSP, will contribute to reducing drug trafficking and consumption in the city of Vila Nova de Famalicão, as well as increasing the sense of security of citizens,” the force said in a statement.
