This Thursday, the Minister of Justice hosts three unions representing prison guards in negotiations on the creation of a travel allowance, after delaying the submission of counter-proposals.
The meeting was scheduled for Tuesday last week with the participation of the National Union of Prison Guards (SNCGP), the Trade Union Association of Prison Chiefs of Prison Guards (ASCCGP) and the Independent Union of Prison Guards (SICGP), which called the proposal presented by the guardianship authorities humiliating.
Minister Rita Alarcão Judice offered these unions the same offer that was made to the GNR and PSP unions by the Ministry of Internal Administration, which included a raise of 12% for commissioners, 9% for managers and 7% for security guards. .
In addition to boosting their careers, prison guards are demanding updates to their salaries and remuneration allowances, including a mission allowance similar to that awarded to the Judicial Police and which is also being negotiated with the PSP and GNR.
The prison has 3,885 guards but needs about 1,500 more, according to SNCGP.
