Farmhouse Rosario leaves the National Commission for the Protection of Children

The President of the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Youth (CNPDPCJ), Rosario Farmhouse, announced this Wednesday that she is leaving a position she has held for seven years.

During the annual meeting to evaluate the activities of the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ), which began today in Covilha and will last three days, Rosario Ferma considered that he could continue to hold his position.

“Would [condições para continuar]I think so, but after seven years I think change is important,” the person in charge said in a conversation with reporters.

According to Rosário Farmhouse, in the presence of the Secretary of State for Social Action and Inclusion Clara Marques Mendes, his departure is not related to a change of government.

“This has nothing to do with the change of government. It has to do with my decision,” he clarified.

The CNPDPCJ President warned that we should not “throw away everything” by changing the current system and recommended improvements to ensure a better response.

Rosário Farmhouse noted that there is an idea in society that a new system needs to be created because it is ineffective, but he stressed that the Portuguese model is one of the most recognized internationally and that it is important to implement it fully. surgery and only then make this assessment.

“We still don’t know if it works because we haven’t put it 100% into practice yet. When it works 100% in practice, if it doesn’t work, we do something new. If in practice it is not 100%, we must continue to refine it, improve it, there is something to improve, but don’t throw everything away, because sometimes we devalue what we have,” emphasized the President of CNPDPCJ.

According to Rosário Farmhouse, other countries find the Portuguese system “wonderful” but the Portuguese are “the only ones who think we need to find another solution.”

The official in charge acknowledged that “some commissions lack” human resources and said efforts were being made across multiple ministries “so that the law can be complied with” and resource allocation would be more judicious next year.

“We don’t have enough resources in some areas of the state and this difficulty has arisen,” Rosario Farm admitted, citing “high volumes” of orders.

The chairman of the body that oversees the PCWC added that this is a cause for concern and that “this is one of the disappointments” with which the mandate ends.
