The Food and Economic Security Administration (ASAE) has opened six administrative violation cases against marine tourism operators and even ordered the immediate suspension of the vessel, it was announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, ASAE said it carried out on Wednesday “a national inspection operation called Operação Navegar, aimed at economic operators engaged in maritime tourism activities, to verify compliance with the mandatory requirements for the implementation of these activities, as well as the operating conditions of vessels used for carrying out leisure activities of a recreational, sports or cultural nature in the aquatic environment.”
During this operation, during which 105 economic operators were inspected, six cases of administrative offenses were identified.
ASAE identifies among the main violations “the lack of a National Register of Tourism and Entertainment Agents (RNAAT) integrated into the National Register of Tourism, the lack of compulsory insurance, the lack of indication of RNAAT in the documentation, the lack of notice of restrictions on alcoholic beverages on board ships, etc.”
It was also decided to immediately suspend the vessel’s activities as it did not have RNAAT registration and compulsory civil liability insurance.
The inspection operation was carried out both on land and on water, “with approaches to vessels in operation on the Tagus, Sado and Ria Formosa rivers, as well as in digital media by checking websites in the context of offering tourism and entertainment services” .
“ASAE will continue to develop inspection activities within its competence throughout the country in favor of healthy and fair competition between economic operators and the protection of consumer interests, given the growing demand for tourism activities in Portugal.” , selects an object.
