“The minister presented an increase of 180 euros, which is very far from what we are defending, and at the moment we do not accept this amount, which is very low,” Paulo Santos, president of the Association of Professional Police Unions (ASPP), told reporters. following a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The government presented a new proposal to PSP trade unions today, which would change the already existing fixed part bonus from €100 to €280, increase it by €180 and keep the variable part at 20% of the base salary.
The ASPP President stressed that today the proposal for the model was changed by maintaining the current 20% “and a fair assessment for agents, supervisors and officers at risk”, but “the problem is the increase of 180 euros”.
Paulo Santos said that next Monday the platform bringing together the PSP unions and the GNR associations will meet and decide what they will do in the future.
“In light of this proposal, we will decide whether it makes sense to continue negotiations until we reach an increase of around 600 euros,” he said, without ruling out the possibility of future demonstrations.
As for the ASPP, defended Paulo Santos, “everything must be done to push and exhaust the negotiations and satisfy the intentions” of the police.
“The fact that we do not accept this value, which is very low, does not prevent us from continuing to build a path that will allow us to achieve the value that we want,” he said, noting that a new meeting with Margarida Blasco is coming. June 3 and hopes that “the minister will add something else.”
Paulo Santos also stated that the increase of 180 euros is “far from corresponding to the proposal presented” by the platform, which proposes to replace the current 100 euros paid to police officers in the allowance with a fixed component of 712.96 euros, which means an effective increase of approximately 600 euros in addition to 20% of salary.
The National Police Union (Sinapol), which is also part of the platform, is threatening to end negotiations unless the government presents another proposal by June 3.
“Sinapol will no longer come to the next meeting unless the government gives a preliminary signal that it is ready to move forward with an addition to the mission for PSP professionals that will be the same for everyone and in which junior police officers will earn more than senior and senior ones. police,” Sinapo President Armando Ferreira told reporters.
When asked if he would give up the platform given that he takes a different position, Armando Ferreira replied that “the platform has several uses, it is a place where there is freedom of expression and each union has its own identity and position.”
President Sinapola also said that he had already approached parliamentary groups with a request for meetings.
The minister is currently meeting with five social and professional associations of the GBBR.
Currently, the service and risk allowance in the security forces consists of a fixed part of 100 euros and a variable part of 20% of the basic salary.
This is the third proposal the government has made to PSP unions, now reducing percentages across occupational categories.
