Two people died this Saturday in an accident on the additional route (IC) 2 in Mealhada, Aveiro district, a source in the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Coimbra told Lusa.
According to the sub-regional command, the alarm about the incident was raised at 07:14, and the fire brigade, the National Institute of Emergency Medical Services and the National Republican Guard (NRG) were sent to the scene.
The PPR General Command stated that there was a head-on collision between two cars, which resulted in the death of two young people aged 23, who were in one of the cars.
One minor injury was also reported to a 61-year-old man in the other vehicle, according to GNR.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department of Road Traffic Accidents of the State Police.
