According to the plan, resource allocation will be intensified during the Delta phase, from July 1 to September 30, through the operational deployment of a “472-capacity ground force,” the Sub-Regional Commander for Disaster and Relief Operations Leziriya said. do Tagus.

In a DECIR presentation held on Tuesday in Rio Mayor, Santarem district, the commander specified that the total number of employees is divided into 263 firefighters from various corporations, 23 employees from the emergency protection and assistance unit of the GNR, 76 from SEPNA (Environmental Service), 32 from the PSP, 40 fire engineers, 13 from the National Forest Agent Corps and 25 from AFOCELCA (a forest protection company dedicated to fighting rural fires).

In the summer of 2024, 28 permanent response teams with a total of 140 firefighters will operate in the subregion.

According to the data presented, the special fire brigade will include 216 firefighters and 81 vehicles.

In terms of surveillance, inspection and fire detection, GNR will contribute 68 military personnel and 37 vehicles, while PSP will employ 32 police officers and two vehicles.

This year’s plan also calls for nine lookout posts and, for the expanded attack, two sub-regional fire teams, an out-of-region fire reinforcement team, and reinforcements and resupply for a total of 106 firefighters.

The sub-regional command of Leiria do Tejo covers the municipalities of Almeirim, Alpiarça, Benavente, Cartacho, Chamusca, Coros, Golegão, Rio Mayor, Salvaterra de Magos and Santarem (all in the Santarem district), as well as Azambuja in the Lisbon district.
