Algarve nurses’ strike with 70 to 100% participation

The Union of Portuguese Nurses classified this Wednesday as “extremely positive” the commitment to the strike at the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), which is estimated to range from 70% in Faro to 100% in the main emergency service in Albufeira.

The shutdown, announced by the Portuguese Union of Nurses (SEP) at CHUA, began at 08:00 and continues until 00:00, covering the morning and afternoon shifts, with union leader Sonia López telling Luza that “at the Hospital de Portimão, the commitment is 80%” , while in “Faro, where all the data has not yet been collected, it will be about 70%”.

CHUA also operates hospitals in Lagos and basic emergency services in Vila Real de Santo António, Lole and Albufeira, where there is “100% attendance”, emphasized Sonia Lopez of SEP Algarve, specifying that this is the case. in Albufeira.
