The President of the Republic announced this Sunday in Celorico de Basto that at the end of his term he will devote himself to the development of culture in the municipality, especially in the municipal library, of which he has been patron since 2001.

“I was here thinking about what else I can do in my life for Celorico, and this seems fair to me, because I spent several very happy moments in my life here,” the head of state said, recalling the time when, as president The Municipal Assembly (1997–2005), “copying President Soares”, openly presided over all parish councils.

Speaking at the official opening of the Oficina da Música, a new institution in this municipality of the Braga district, where he has family roots, he noted that “in a year and a few months” he will be able to include in his “life path” tasks related, above all, to with education and training, if possible with the youngest.”

In the case of the municipal library that bears his name, the president stressed that he has already lost count of the volumes sent to the equipment that works on the old rural farm restored by the municipality.

“There are from 250 thousand to 300 thousand, but the most important thing is that Celorico de Basto turned out to be a pioneer in what is now a fashion, namely, that some writers begin to donate their works, their property to their libraries. , to the ground from scratch,” he strengthened.
