Communications Minister Lula da Silva accused of corruption and criminal organization

The Minister of Communications of the government of Lula da Silva, Juscelino Filho, was accused by the Federal Police (FF) of several crimes, including corruption and participation in a criminal organization. The minister’s accusation appears in the final report of the investigation carried out by the PF since 2022 and sent on Tuesday to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), which authorized it.

Juscelino Filho is accused by the corporation of transferring millions of euros through parliamentary amendments from the state company Codevasf, Companhia de Desenvolvimento dos Vales do Rios São Francisco and Parnaíba in 2022, while he was still a federal deputy, for his own benefit. and for suspicious work in the town of Vitorino Freire, in the interior of the state of Maranhão. The minister is from this city, which is currently governed by his sister Luana Rezende.

Also, according to the Federal Police, most of the investments made in roads from the funds that Juscelino is accused of embezzling benefited his property and the property of his family. In addition, the company hired to carry out the work is involved in a number of violations and, as follows from the PF report, the hidden owner is the minister himself.

For this reason, the PF accused Juscelina Filho, in addition to corruption and money laundering, also of fraud in public tenders and ideological lies. One of the most controversial ministers in Lula da Silva’s government, Juscelino Filho, a former ally of Jair Bolsonaro, is also under investigation for other alleged irregularities, namely the use of public funds for personal travel.
