A collision between a car and a truck this Thursday resulted in deaths on the supplementary route 8 (IC8), the civil protection service told Lusa.
The alarm about the incident was received at 19:17 near the industrial zone of Sertão in the Castelo Branco region, a source from the subregional command for emergencies and civil protection of Beira Baixa said.
According to the same source, the deceased is a 20-year-old young man, the driver of a car.
At 21:25, the IC8 highway was still closed to traffic in both directions, with traffic diverted towards Estrada Nacional 2 (EN2).
27 operatives were present at the scene, supported by 12 GNR vehicles, firefighters from Serta, ambulances and medical resuscitation (VMER) from Coimbra and Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).
