Rafael Vilar, an 18-year-old car enthusiast, died after he was hit early Saturday while watching illegal racing in the Sobreposta industrial zone in Braga. The alarm was raised around 0:30 am and firefighters and INEM were called to the scene.
During the race, which was watched by hundreds of people, one of the participants made a wrong maneuver and ended up colliding with Rafael, who was killed immediately.
Messages dedicated to Raphael are multiplying on social networks. “Rafa” is described as a young man with a huge passion for the automotive world. He was even the administrator of an Instagram page dedicated to auto racing.
“God took him away at the exact moment when he, as he always said, was celebrating another hot night. There are no words to describe an accident of this magnitude, my brother,” reads a post on the Clube TDI Portugal page.
