This Sunday, UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against the Albanian Football Federation due to the inappropriate behavior of Albanian fans in the match against Italy on Saturday, in the first round of Group B of the Euro 2024 football tournament.
Europe’s soccer regulator said in a statement that the charges include throwing objects, using pyrotechnic devices, trespassing on the playing field and “transmitting inflammatory messages inappropriate for a sporting event.”
The pitch invasion occurred in the 90th minute of the match played at the Signal Iduna Park stadium in Dortmund, where Albania won thanks to the fastest goal in European Championship history, scored in the 23rd second by Nedim Bajrami. but allowed Italy to win 2–1.
The defending champions turned the result around early in the first half, with goals coming from Alessandro Bastoni in the 11th minute and Nicolo Barella in the 16th minute, putting them level with Spain, who had won shortly before. Croatia, 3-0.
