The Faro area is under a yellow warning until noon due to disturbances at sea, and then under an orange warning until midnight, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) announced this Friday.
The IPMA statement indicated that southeasterly waves with a height of two to three meters are expected on the south coast of Faro County.
The situation is expected to worsen from noon when waves reach four meters high, IPMA said, which will issue an orange warning that will be in effect until midnight.
Also from noon, a yellow alert will be issued in the Faro region due to strong winds from the east/southeast with gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour.
A yellow warning is issued whenever a risk situation arises for certain weather-dependent activities, and an orange color indicates a moderate to high risk weather situation.
