An earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale was recorded in Grandol.

The Grandola area in Setubal district was hit by an earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale on Tuesday. According to IPMA, the epicenter was 12 kilometers from the city.

According to the same source, the shock occurred around 17:02.

The institute points out that the shock, “according to currently available information, did not cause any personal or property damage.”

IPMA stresses that determining the location of an earthquake’s epicenter is a complex physical and mathematical process that depends on data sets, algorithms and seismic wave propagation models, meaning different agencies may produce slightly different results.

“Similarly, preliminary decisions are usually adjusted later by combining additional information,” IPMA adds.
