“We will return to the appointments that will accompany this agenda, from security to defence, industrial technological strength and the values that make up the European model,” French President Emmanuel Macron said before lunch with the Portuguese prime minister. Luis Montenegro at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
The French head of state was referring to appointments to senior positions in the European Union (EU), including the presidency of the European Council. Before the meeting with Macron, Montenegro confirmed its support for Costa’s possible candidacy for this position, “since he is Portuguese, European, a bearer of the values of respect for peace, democracy, political and economic solidarity between EU states.”
