Austrian army suspends operations in Turkey due to ‘intergroup clashes’

The Austrian army has suspended rescue operations in earthquake-hit Turkey due to “gang clashes,” ministry spokesman Michael Bauer said. twitter, This Saturday.

“Austrian troops have taken refuge in the base camp along with other international organizations and are waiting for instructions,” the AFP news agency added, citing Michael Bauer.

The Austrian Disaster Relief Unit (AFDRU) is ready for further rescue operations once the working environment is safe, the spokesman said.

About 80 Austrian military rescuers have been in Antakya, Turkey since February 7 and have already freed nine people from the rubble.
