PCP agrees to meet with Livre, but remembers that she has a municipal project that is different from all the parties.

The PCP general secretary announced this Saturday that the party had accepted Livre’s request for a meeting to reflect on left-wing agreements for local authorities, but stressed that the communists have a local government project “different from all others”.

At a press conference after the central committee meeting, Paulo Raimundo said that the meeting with Livre would be a “normal meeting”, but stressed the current “municipal responsibilities of the PCP” and that the party “is in a dispute over the confirmation of this unique project”.

“We have already answered in the affirmative to hold this meeting, a normal meeting, even after the elections to the European Parliament, this is a normal meeting, we will accept it, we are still in the process of determining the date, because these calendars sometimes do not allow this earlier,” said leader of the PKP.

Paulo Raimundo avoided a definitive answer about the possibility of creating an alliance of the left in the next municipal elections, only repeating the differences between the communist proposals for the remaining forces and that it is a question that depends on the political projects that are presented.

“You know us, I have confirmed this several times, the problem is not people A, B or C, it is not the numerical goal of this or that, the problem is the content, proposals, solutions for the population and the project. which responds to the problems of the population,” he said.

The PKP general secretary also stated that the communist history in local government has “confirmed evidence” and shows “differentiated work, a construction path, the participation of other people, many independent people who join the CDU for a project that has and for the reaction that it gives to problems.”

“It is not something that cannot be compared, it can be compared with proven evidence and that is what we are working on, we are working hard,” added Paulo Raimundo.

The Communist leader also added that the party also has a meeting planned next week with the ecologist Party “Os Verdes” to address local issues and analyze the results of the European elections.

Livre announced on the 23rd that he had requested a meeting with the leaders of the PS, the Bloc de Esquerda (who had already accepted the invitation), the PCP and the PAN to analyze the current political situation after the last elections to the European Parliament, as well as to think now in local authorities.

According to Livre, “it is essential that dialogue between progressive and leftist forces takes place at a time of great challenges to national and European democracy,” such as those we are facing now.
