A 55-year-old woman died in a collision between two cars on Estrada Nacional 333/2 in Cambariño, Campia district, in Vuzela.
The road was closed in both directions to provide assistance and clear the road, which was reopened after two and a half hours.
Victims were in each of the vehicles involved in the crash. Both were taken into custody for about an hour.
The deceased, a 55-year-old woman, could not withstand the severity of her injuries. She was treated by an INEM medical team, who pronounced her dead on the spot.
The driver of the other car, a 61-year-old man, was initially considered slightly injured but was taken “as seriously injured and accompanied by the INEM medical team to the hospital in Viseu,” said the GNR, which is investigating the cause of the accident.
In addition to GNR and INEM, Vuzela firefighters were on site, as well as towing and road clearing teams, a total of 20 operators with nine vehicles.
