The Algarve line was interrupted this Friday morning due to a collision between a 7-seater passenger car and a train at the Pozo-Barreto level crossing in the municipality of Silves, which left six people injured.
According to CMOf the six injured, three are in serious condition: two girls aged 19 and 25 and an 18-year-old boy. Two men aged 19 and 23 and a 17-year-old woman received minor injuries. All the passengers in the car were Dutch citizens. Two of the seriously injured were taken to hospital by helicopter.
There were 24 passengers on the train.
“The collision between a passenger car and a passenger train occurred at 8:17,” the same source reported.
At 08:45, 31 operators were on site, supported by 11 vehicles and the Air Force.
“Firefighters from Silves and Lagoa, as well as the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) and the National Republican Guard (GNR) are participating in the rescue operations.
